Automating Amazon WorkSpaces provisioning and user onboarding with SynchroNet CLICK

A&T Systems, a small Systems Integrator based in Silver Spring, MD, engaged SynchroNet to assist with emergency onboarding and support of hundreds of healthcare users to Amazon WorkSpaces. During an initial pilot migration to Amazon WorkSpaces, users reported lack of coordination and notification of Amazon WorkSpaces availability. In addition to not knowing when their Amazon WorkSpaces was ready to use, users needed help setting up their Amazon WorkSpaces client registration code. These user experience issues resulted in an increase in support-related requests that ultimately overwhelmed front-line support teams.

SynchroNet assembled a team of AWS EUC solutions architects and engineers to align on a strategy, architecture, and tactical migration plan. SynchroNet’s CLICK solution automated the Amazon WorkSpaces provisioning and user welcome emails for A&T Systems. The user instructions sent by CLICK once a user’s Amazon WorkSpaces was ready for use allowed front-line support to greatly improve the user experience.

Provisioning WorkSpaces in the native console can be clunky and limited in its functionality. SynchroNet CLICK is a User Automation Platform (UAP) that leverages the power of serverless technology to automate user, workspace, and application life cycles. Built on AWS Lambda, CLICK facilitates deploying and managing Amazon WorkSpaces at scale by automating each manual touchpoint: provisioning, termination, changes, resource allocation, user self-service, and application allocation.

SynchroNet’s CLICK platform facilitates deploying and managing Amazon WorkSpaces at scale by automating the provisioning, termination, changes, resource allocation, user self-service, and application allocation. CLICK integrates with Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and uses existing user administration workflows to ensure that WorkSpaces are provisioned and de-provisioned accurately and uniformly as users move through their lifecycle. Administrators use the CLICK administration console to map user personas to the applications, compute type, storage, and other WorkSpaces requirements that are to be automatically delivered. Additionally, end-users can use a self-service portal to perform self-service tasks based on role authority such as viewing status, resending registration information, rebuilding, and rebooting.

SynchroNet is an Advanced AWS Consulting Partner and an AWS Marketplace SaaS solution provider. SynchroNet recommended and implemented its CLICK solution, and this enabled A&T Systems to greatly improve the user experience and to automate several manual provisioning and cost optimization tasks.
